Melvin graduated Summa Cum Laude from Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. with a degree in Accounting. He began his career as a CPA with KPMG Peat Marwick. He migrated into banking and finance, servicing as the CFO for a bank and finally as the president of a regional mortgage company. He is married to Jill Upchurch, a Nebraska grad and former tennis pro. Jill is also a LIST Realtor. Melvin started out in real estate as an investor. He obtained a home builders license and has flipped, with Jill, over 150 houses. He is still an active investor with a rental portfolio. Melvin built a successful real estate career by focusing on relationships and personal referrals from clients and friends. He brings together a powerful financial and technical background to serve the needs of his clients.
